I was appalled when I saw surrogate females in a professional breeders place?
I went w a friend to see weimaraner dogs in a professional breeders place. He had many cages w dogs. I was surprised to see male dogs having like an "orgy" in one cage, what appeared like a female dog and several males mounting one after the other. I asked him, how come you keep females in the same cages??? he responded that they have no females in the male cages, they have "surrogate " females, which are neutered males that do not care about being mounted. That, he said, allows the other males to act on their sexual urges, and, there is no aggression, becuse the neutered males do not oppose to it. I understood, but I felt bad, those male dogs that got neutered did not deserve a life like that.
He says every kennel does it, saxcrifice a few males for the health of the rest. That was wrong,those were not female dogs, but male dogs and the other dogs treated them like girls.
I called the aweimaraner Dog Association, as well as the AKC ( American Kennel Club ) … they told me they will investigate. They said that is considered cruelty to animals , and in a commercial facility the law can be enforced. The more I think about it, the more depressed I feel. My friend was the one interested in a dog, I already have one, but I am thinking about adopting one of those poor enslaved dogs. My friend will adopt another one, the AKC and the Weimaraner Club will let me know.

That is rather twisted. They aught to make a blow-up Bettie for dogs so that no animal has to go through that.

thats sick, ive never heard anything like it in my life, and a proper breederwould not be able to do that because they have love for their dogs
Don’t believe him. Not all kennels do it and it is not even a sexual thing. Its about dominance, not mating. Don’t get a puppy there. If the guy doesn’t even know about that then imagine how little he knows about breeding.
that is horrible!! i would report him!! breeders r supposed to LOVE their dogs. not let some of them be sexual toys for the others. i really think u should report him!!
If the breeder said all kennels do it he is lying. RUN far and fast away from this breeder!!!
That’s not true. All breeders don’t do this. In fact I’ve never heard of this practice.
Mounting is a dominance thing. Females will do it too.
As for "Fulfilling their sexual urges" Male dogs only feel sexual urges when they smell a female dog in heat, and it’s not going to hurt them any if when they do smell such a female, they are denied mating privilages.
All these things are common knowlege for anyone that works with dogs. It sounds like you have a puppy mill on your hands rather than a caring breeder. Please report him.
Never heard of such a thing. This is so unusual, it doesn’t doesn’t even sound like something that really happened (and my apologies to you if it did… for having to have witnessed it!)
I think that is sad. I see that at the doggy park all the time, the neutered dogs get chased by the males as if they were females…so there is something real to that thought, although I can not agree w it being ok.
At the farms , I have seen ranchers do that, they place a castrated bull in the bull pens to allow intact males to mount it, in that is seen as normal in the cattle ranchers repertoir. The males can act male and relax, no fights in between excited males. They do not use females, becaseu unless in heat, she will not allow, and she could get harrassed . The castrated animals simply care less.
I never knew the dog industry did the same. It is sad.
