Vaginal Muscles After Giving Birth?

Note: Please excuse me if this sounds graphic..its not my intention to sound "perverted" or gross. I simply just have an "after-birth" concern to ask the ladies on here that have had kids.
My concern is with my lower regions, obviously after having a baby everything is all stretched down there and the first day after I had my baby I checked down there with a mirror and saw that my vaginal opening was more open then usual (again, obviously normal). For the next couple days after that I could literally feel like a tightening going on down there..to the point that it was a bit painful, but I just ignored it as being normal after birth pains.
Its been 7 days since my daughter was born and I checked myself down there in the mirror again, now my vaginal opening is like a really tiny little slit…and I noticed that my vaginal muscles are stronger then they were before I had my daughter. Isn’t that a bit strange? Could this be from the way the doctor stitched me up? Why am I constantly feeling like my muscles are involuntarily tightening down there? Is that normal?

You’re brave. I didn’t dare look for 14 days. You’re also okay. Yes it is normal. Your body is just working itself back to normalcy. They say if you don’t have sex for 7 months after delivering your parts will go back to how they were when you were a virgin. Most of us don’t want to wait the 7 months especially if we are involved.. it does go pretty much back to normal after around 3 months. It’s a huge change to go from 10cm back to the normal size and if you tear it’s a longer healing process and your body is working hard at it like it should be so everything is normal don’t worry.
